Altruly WordPress Fundraising Plugin

We have published a plugin for WordPress that makes it easier for Nonprofits and Charities to connect their supporters to their Altruly profile page to make it quick and easy to start creating fundraising pages for their cause.

The plugin doesn’t provide full integration of Altruly’s functionality into WordPress. It only allows website administrators to use a shortcode to quickly create a link from their organization’s website to their Altruly profile.

The plugin can be found here:

Fundraise while you participate in any sports event

army-run-raceWe’ve recently added functionality to create your own dedicated fundraising page for any sporting event, whether its the New York Marathon or an annual golf tournament that you and your friends organize on your own. So now, you can raise funds for you favorite cause for even more of the events you participate in throughout the year. Seriously, it works for any kind of sports event you can imagine, including: walks/runs, triathlons, mud/obstacle races, bowling tournaments, baseball games, basketball games, crossfit, football games, golf tourneys, quiddich, sailing, swimming, soccer, tennis… really, anything – and that includes professionally hosted events, as well as events that you and your friends organized by yourselves.

How it works:

  1. Search for a specific event in our database. If you can’t find one, add it to our database!
  2. Once the event has been added to our database, create a fundraiser.
  3. Choose to create a sports event fundraiser.
  4. Choose a nonprofit that will benefit from the fundraiser.
  5. Fill out the details of your participation, and when complete, you’ll receive an email confirmation with your personalized fundraising page to share with your friends, family and colleagues.

That’s pretty much it. If you need some help, you can always drop us a line
. We love hearing from people.

Altruly adds Open Invitation events

When we launched Altruly a few months ago, we imagined that users would initially gravitate towards hosting private invitation events. After speaking with a few of our early adopters, we have received some important feedback that we have incorporated into our latest build.

Today, we introduce Open Invitations. This functionality allows anyone to add themselves to the guestlist of an upcoming event. When creating an event, the host can select the Open Invitation checkbox, and voila, a version of the invitation is created that can be shared with Twitter, Facebook, Google, or any other sharing method. After a user adds their name and email address to the guestlist, a custom invitation is emailed to them for future reference or to change their RSVP status at a later date.

This functionality should be valuable to organizations who would like to create invitations to events hosted for their supporters and anyone else interested in attending. It’s also a great way for organizations to get the word out about events they are hosting on their social channels.

Welcome to Altruly

Welcome to the Altruly blog. This is where we’ll post updates on our company and products. Stop by every once in a while to see what’s up!

Wait, what is Altruly?

Altruly is a fundraising platform for nonprofits with ambitious goals to grow their organizations, and a place for individuals to add purpose to almost any type of event. For more details on how Altruly works, visit our “how it works” page for individual fundraisers and our “partnering with us” page for nonprofits. Our headquarters are in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Calling all Nonprofits and Registered Charities

Since we’ve recently launched, we are looking to build our database of nonprofit partners. If you are involved in a nonprofit organization based in the United States or Canada, your organization can benefit from creating a profile on Altruly. Creating a nonprofit account is absolutely free and opens your organization to a world of fundraising opportunities.

How we can help you

Altruly will help you achieve the following goals:

  1. Increase donor engagement and cause awareness by leveraging the strength of peer-to-peer donor networks
  2. Decrease donor acquisition cost and increase campaign response rates through more effective targetting
  3. Modernize your technology to meet current standards of mobile devices

What we do for you

Altruly takes care of all of the heavy lifting. Here are just a few examples of the tasks we automate for you:

  • We issue receipts for income tax purposes. If your organization doesn’t qualify for issuing receipts for income tax purposes, that OK too. We’ll send plain transaction receipts too.
  • We create it easy for you to download your donor data to import into your CRM software
  • We secure all of your data as well as the data of your donors. Credit card and other payment information is stored securely with the experts over at Stripe

If you’d like a demo of the Altruly platform, feel free to contact us at any time.
